Information
Dr. Moffett is a professor
in the Physics Department at Furman
University, where he teaches courses
in physics and astronomy.
His research interests
include the study of the remnants
of supernovae, radio pulsars, and
the promotion of astronomy through
education and outreach. Currently,
he is developing a 327-MHz pulsar
receiver at the Pisgah Astronomical
Research Institute PARI
in Rosman, North Carolina. He is also
a collaborator on the NSF-funded Dedicated
Interferometer for Rapid Variability
(DIRV) project. The goal of the project
is to create a two-element interferometer
from PARI's two 26-m antennae at S
and X band to study intraday variability.
Dr. Moffett was also a mentor on the
team project, "Sensing
the Radio Sky", funded by an NSF
IPSE grant. This group developed the
materials and curriculum for radio
astronomy education for the Starlab
inflatable planetarium built by
Learning Technologies, Inc.
